Whether it is part of an extension or new build design, the option to link the outside-in, using large opening apertures is without doubt the latest trend in home design and renovation. Traditionally, bi-folding door sets are the door of choice to provide this result, but the Swing and Slide doors from Profix offer a practical alternative.
Swing and Slide doors are a patio door that slides and swings into position, rather than using a concertina action like the bi-fold which takes up space adjacent to the doors. The door set only has visible hardware on the master door, and can be opened independently to the rest of the door set; the remaining panels show no external hardware so when closed look more like windows or a partition wall. Using only an internal latch fitted into the profile and magnetic technology, the remaining panels slide and pivot out to 90o to meet the master door which, when open has a stay open feature to stay secure against wind. This unique action means there’s absolutely no encroachment on the area around the door set until it meets the master door, so furniture can be placed up against them if desired.
Partial or Open Spaces
The added benefit of this unique action means you can open as much or as little of the doorset as desired. By stacking all the panels open at one end an open wall can be created, but with the UK weather as unpredictable as it is, the magnetic technology means you can lock the panels in any position. By opening perhaps one panel and sliding the others along to fill the space, gaps can be created to provide much needed ventilation - 52 weeks vs 4 weeks makes this a viable investment for any homeowner or housebuilder.
The Slide and Swing doors are secure too. The magnetic technology runs the entire height of the panel and top and bottom bolts, so once they are locked into place they is no flex, providing a robust and secure wall. They have been tested to BS 6375 and PAS 24/Secured By Design.
