#GMFB2B Cycle Challenge done!

With over a month since Profix Group MD Alan Sadler completed his most epic cycling challenge to date #GMFB2B, he is back in the saddle and able to reflect fondly on the highs and lows of 2,118 mile journey from Vancouver, Canada to Tijuana, Mexico.

Captain Sadler

Part of the team of twenty-three males, and one lone female Olympian, that undertook this epic challenge, Alan comments: “It is fair to say that the 2016 GMF Border2Border Cycling Challenge - dubbed as ‘The Toughest Yet’ - certainly lived up to its name.

“In addition to the many, many, many miles we cycled every day; the hills, mountains and deserts we covered, the weather was one of the biggest challenges we faced. We cycled through pouring rain, the biggest hailstones I’ve ever seen, thunderstorms into temperatures exceeding 42 degrees. To say it was hard to adjust to these conditions is an understatement.

Sunny California

“My personal highlight has to be a 90 mile day early on that had a total climb of 5,500ft, most of which was covered in the last 15 miles. It poured with rain all day, not something we really expected in ‘sunny California’, but we were so pleased to have done it, and so happy to meet the rest of the team back at the hotel. The sense of achievement of completing our first tough day was brilliant.

“I have cycled Bathroom selfie4 of these challenges and supported 1 with GM Fundraising, and although this was the hardest to date, it was also the most enjoyable thanks to the team that took part. Special mention must go to the support team for being amazing throughout, providing us with a constant supply of water, food (on most of the RV’s) and moral support throughout. But my biggest thanks goes to my room-mate Mike James, who as many of you will have seen on Facebook, provided many laughs. Obviously the #gmfbathroomselfies were purely to satisfy his thespian needs…although we did manage to raise an extra £400 and had some fun in the process, look out for the Christmas Cards!

“Thank you to everyone that sponsored and supported me throughout, its not too late to donate can still do  here https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Sadlerb2b
